Daddy Owen, aka Owen Mwatia began his musical journey in high school. He was an active member of the Drama and Music clubs before discovering his passion for music and would often spend time composing songs.
After high school, he decided to take music seriously and in 2003 began recording as a professional artist under the guidance of his brother, renowned gospel singer Rufftone.
The King of Kapungala now has three albums Haijalishi (features the hit single, Shilingi Ya Kenya), Son of Man (features Run Dem) and System ya Kapungala (features Tobina) under his name. He has won the Groove Awards (2010 – Male Artiste of The Year) and the MTV Africa Music Awards (2010 – Best Anglo African Act).
